Shot of the Month

Bill Chafty was not only the best and only assistant I would work with but a Great mate. Clients such as Alfred Dunhill would ask for him by name. Knowing that he contributed 110% to any shoot.

To say Bill was an assistant would be an understatement. If I had a real difficult project I would call on Bill, if he was free, which was rare. I met Bill through photographer Steve Wakeham some 12 years ago. Since then all my shoots with Bill have been great fun, whether he was organising- our last shoot together- the England Cricket Team for Dunhill, or a difficult still life he would sort it out with ease. With freezing weather, our week shoot for Dunhill at St Andrews was the best fun and very hard work. Because of Bill's great and cheeky sense of humour, his natural ability to organise people, we came back with some stunning shot's.

On the 17th of December 2004 I received a call from Steve to say that Bill had died that day, I was stunned!!. At 38 he will be a very sad loss to us all. That night I started to think about all the laughs we had over the years and I started to smile. Even when he's gone he can still do this. Those unique memory's will stay with me always ..."Cheers Bill, Top Bloke and a True Professional".
